Clinton Sailing Club

CSC is hiring Adult Sailing Instructors!

Clinton Sailing Club (CSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting safe, active, and fun community sailing. We launched in summer 2016 and taught nearly 200 kids to sail. Our goal is to create a program open to all local kids ages 8-18, regardless of income level. Come join the fun and help us take it to the next level!

CSC is looking for two Adult Sailing Instructors eager to help lead our *new* Adult Sailing Program in summer 2017. Must have dynamic personalities, love sailing, and enjoy working with kids and adults of all ages.

Adult Sailing is most weekends, and some adult programs may run a few evenings a week. We are looking for someone who can help organize, develop, and run this new program. Must be US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certified and a strong teacher and sailor.

As a CSC Adult Sailing Instructor, you will spend most of your day on the water coaching (this is the fun part)! Here’s a typical day: working closely with our volunteer Junior Instructors, you prepare our Sunfish, Flying Juniors (FJs) and center-console Achilles inflatable coaching boats. You welcome students, cover land-based instruction, then tow sailors to Cedar Island. Coach your group, tow students back to the beach, then stow all boats and gear at the end of the day.

Our program has a high instructor:student ratio, with a maximum class size of 12 students. This approach will allow you to focus on coaching, safety, and individual student needs; in other words, providing a great experience for students! You also will be helping to shape the future of a new community sailing program: how exciting is that?

This is a summer position for 8 weekends from July 1st – August 20th. Additional weekend or evening hours may be offered as we develop family, seniors, and veterans sailing programs. We look forward to hearing from you!
